The three meals I had there were not utterly flawless -- one pasta preparation went overboard on the basil -- but the place really nailed the whole experience.
I'd love to hear from you: What's the four-star restaurant in your universe? Is it flying under the radar? Has it been reviewed?
Well, there is Restaurant Iris...
ReplyDeleteLets define what the stars mean.
ReplyDeleteIs it just for Seattle, or the Seattle area?
Or should a 4 star rating here line up with a 4 star in Portland, or even New York? Like a Michelin rating? Should your 4 stars be equal or similar to 4 stars given by the NYT?
I looked for a definition on the PI sight and didn't find one (surely it's there, but I didn't look too hard.).
The Dragonfly Cafe has quietly become one of the best Taos dining experiences. Don't know that it's four-star relative to what the rest of the world has to offer, but for Taos, at the top.

My 4-star restaurant is Rivoli over in Berkeley. Incredible food and fantastic atmosphere. The portabella fritters are to die for and the eggplant gratin I had was one of the most perfect things I've ever tasted.
ReplyDeleteIf you're ever in the SF area, it's worth the trip across the bay.
